RCMP are asking for the public’s help in locating a woman accused in an alleged kidnapping in central Alberta last month.

On Saturday, August 13, 2022, Maskwacis RCMP responded to a call for service on the Samson Cree Nation where a female reported being kidnapped by multiple individuals and held against her will.

Mounties say the female was forced into a vehicle, threatened with her life, and a firearm was held to her head. After some time, the female was able to break free from being restrained and fled to safety. Police say the female was treated for minor injuries and is expected to make a full recovery.

As the investigation unfolded, police say they were able to quickly identify three suspects and take two into custody.

Richard Soosay, a 30-year-old male, and Amy Okeymow, a 37-year-old female, both from the Samson Cree Nation, were charged with the following:

  • Kidnapping with a firearm
  • Forcible confinement
  • Uttering threats

RCMP say Soosay faces additional charges of pointing a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a firearm while prohibited.

Maskwacis RCMP are requesting the public’s assistance in locating the third and final suspect, Alexandra Raine, a 24-year-old female from the Maskwacis area. An arrest warrant has been issued for Raine who is facing charges including:

  • Kidnapping with a firearm
  • Forcible confinement
  • Robbery
  • Uttering threats
  • Assault

Mounties say Raine is known to frequent the area of Maskwacis, but also the City of Wetaskiwin and City of Edmonton.
