Lacombe golfer still in the hunt at Alberta Open

Brady Mckinlay of Lacombe shot a 2-under 70 on Wednesday to stay in contention going into the final round of the Alberta Open at the Sundre Golf Club.

Mckinlay is 5^th overall, 4 back of Ethan Choi of Lethbridge who remains atop the leaderboard for the second straight day.

The top Central Alberta Pro’s were Grant Numrich of the Red Deer Golf & Country Club after a 73 and Scott Shouldice of the host club after shooting a 74. They are both tied for 20^th, 9 off the pace. Jared Nicolls of the Wolf Creek Golf Resort fired a 73 to move into a tie for 24^th.

Sundre Golf Club’s Dane Thorogood, who is an amateur, also shot a 1-over 73 to move into a 24^th place tie. Wolf Creek’s Chase Broderson was 1-under 71 to move up 25 spots into a tie for 29^th. Logan Graf of the Red Deer Golf & Country Club shot 78 and is tied in 52^nd with Sundre Pro Matt Bean, who carded a 74.

Red Deer Golf & Country Club’s Alex Gerrard (a) 79, Leighton Bearchell (p) Sundre 78, Tim Boston (p) Wolf Creek 80, Jace Ouellette (p) Innisfail 80 and Joe Kelly (a) Innisfail 85 missed the cut.
