Building permit values see increases in Red Deer

Officials with the City of Red Deer say building permit values increased in May, with 111 approved permits valued at $35.4 million, compared with 105 permits issued in May 2021 worth $11.9 million.

Year-to-date building permit values remain higher in 2022, with current values at $76.6 million compared with $41.9 million last year.

Notable permits include:

  • Building permit for a new Catholic middle school (St. Lorenzo Ruiz) at 150 Kingston Drive, valued at $22,042,437
  • Building permit for renovations of existing IGA Food Store at 3839 40 Avenue, valued at $1,540,000
  • Building permit for main floor renovations at Alberta Health Services located at 4132-101 50 Avenue, valued at $1,100,000
  • Building permit for 800 Wing roof expansion at Red Deer Polytechnic located at 100 College Boulevard, valued at $1,000,000
  • Building permit for shipping, receiving and compressor building additions at 4617 63 Street, valued at $908,666
