Maskwacis RCMP investigating attempted murder, make arrest

March 10, 2022 — RCMP advise that Jesse Cabry was arrested without incident on the below matter on March 9 at a home on Ermineskin Cree Nation.

Cabry was held for a bail hearing and then remanded. He is scheduled to appear in Wetaskiwin provincial court on March 15.

The investigation is ongoing, RCMP add.

March 3, 2022 — Maskwacis RCMP continue to investigate the attempted murder of a 17-year-old male that occurred during the early morning hours of Mar. 2, 2022 on the Samson Cree Nation.

Maskwacis RCMP have been unable to locate Jesse James Cabry, 29, of Maskwacis and a warrant for his arrest has been obtained for the following charges:

  • Attempted murder while using a firearm
  • Pointing a firearm

Jesse Cabry is described as having a medium complexion with long brown hair and brown eyes, 6’1” tall, 170 pounds and a slender build.

If located, the public are advised not to approach as Jesse Cabry is believed to be armed and dangerous.

Maskwacis RCMP continue to investigate this incident and efforts to locate Cabry continue.

March 2, 2022 — RCMP are searching for a suspect following an early morning shooting in central Alberta Wednesday.

On Mar. 2, at 2:30 a.m., RCMP responded to a shots fired complaint in the Samson Cree Nation town site.

Responding members located a 17-year-old male who had been shot. Mounties say the victim was rushed to hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries.

The suspect, meanwhile, has been identified as 29-year-old Jesse Cabry of Maskwacis. Police say attempts to arrest Jesse Cabry resulted with the K Division Emergency Response Team being deployed to the area, however, Cabry was not located.

RCMP are currently seeking a warrant for the arrest of Jesse Cabry and charges of attempted murder are pending. Mounties say Cabry is known to frequent Maskwacis and is described as an Indigenous male with long brown hair, brown eyes, 6’1” tall, 170 pounds and a slender build.

If located, RCMP warn, do not approach, as Jesse Cabry is believed to be armed and dangerous.

RCMP are requesting that anyone who knows Jess Cabry’s current whereabouts, or who have seen him, to call 911.
