Red Deer down to 100 active cases of COVID-19

CENTRAL ZONE

Red Deer has 100 active cases of COVID-19, down 11 from Wednesday — the city’s lowest total since Aug. 16.

Meantime, recoveries in Red Deer rose by 17 to 9,228 as the total number of COVID-19 cases attributed to Red Deer rose by seven in the last day to 9,411.

Red Deer’s death toll stemming from COVID-19 is now 83, with the last one reported Nov. 29.

The Central Zone as a whole has 567 active cases as of Thursday, down 26 in the last day.

There are 80 hospitalizations, down two, and six people receiving intensive care at Red Deer Regional Hospital, the same as yesterday.

Central Zone has recorded 400 deaths, including zero reported in the last day.

PROVINCIAL NUMBERS

The active caseload is now 4,539, down 80 from Wednesday. This with the province adding 366 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours.

The active caseload includes three cases of the Omicron variant, the same as yesterday.

With 9,465 tests conducted over the past 24 hours, the seven-day positivity rate is 4.25 per cent.

There are 419 people currently in hospital with COVID-19, down five from Wednesday, with 76 of those patients in ICU, down three from yesterday.

Of the 343 not in ICU, 212 are unvaccinated, 18 have had one dose, and 92 have had two doses. An additional 21 have had a booster dose.

Of the 76 in ICU, 59 are unvaccinated, three have had one dose, and 13 have had two doses. An additional one has had a booster dose.

There have been two additional deaths reported to Alberta Health in the last 24 hours, bringing the province’s death toll from the virus now to 3,257.

VACCINATIONS

Alberta has delivered 6,927,839 vaccine doses as of Dec. 1, up 16,903 in the last day.

88.9 per cent of Alberta’s eligible 12+ population has received at least one dose (76.5% total population), and 84.1 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated (71.6% total population).

Taking into account 5-11-year-olds, 81.5 per cent of Alberta’s eligible population has received at least one dose, and 76.2 per cent of those eligible are fully vaccinated.

A total of 384,249 Albertans have received a booster dose, up 5,742.

In Red Deer, 74,914 (74.6% of eligible & 70.4% *total population) people have received at least one dose, up 171. Meanwhile, 70,798 (70.5%/66.5%) are fully vaccinated with two doses, up 82.
