Winter Clothing Items/Cash Needed

Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre to host Charity Checkstop

Sep 30, 2021 | 8:00 AM

Central Albertans can make donations to keep children warm and neighbourhoods safe from the comfort of their own car this coming weekend.

Charity Checkstop runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Oct. 2 along Taylor Drive, just north of 32 Street.

The event is held in support of the Coats 4 Kids campaign and the Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre.

Drivers are encouraged to pull into the dedicated charity checkstop lanes on Taylor Drive to donate gently used winter clothing and items for kids or adults, and/or cash for crime prevention.

Last year’s Charity Checkstop saw over 800 winter items collected for families in need. Organizers note that central Albertans are very generous, and they hope to match or do better than 2020.

All volunteers accepting coats & cash will be masked and gloved for everyone’s safety. Click here to sign up for a volunteer shift.

Coats will be cleaned by sponsoring drycleaners and distributed to families in need through the Victory Church Clothing Zone. Winter items will be available to pick up ONLY on Wednesdays & Thursdays 1-4 p.m. starting Wednesday October 13 – Thursday October 28 at Victory Church.

Officials say the mission of the Central Alberta Crime Prevention Centre is to engage, educate and empower citizens to increase community safety. Monies donated are described as vital to the overall operation of the CACPC all donations are received with gratitude.
