Ross Fraser of Sylvan Lake has been playing Lotto Max for a long time, and his dedication has finally paid off.

A ticket Fraser bought for the June 22 draw was a winner to the tune of $500,020.

He said he was at work when his wife called to tell him the amazing news.

“I couldn’t believe it. She called and told me what we had won. I had to step away for a couple minutes — it was a lot to deal with!”

Fraser says he will invest his winnings and retire earlier than originally planned.

The winning ticket was purchased at the Petro Canada located on Highway 43 in Fox Creek.

Fraser won the $500,020 prize by matching all seven numbers on one of the Maxmillions draw.

His numbers were 9, 13, 27, 34, 37, 48, and 50.

He’ll split his winnings with another ticket purchased somewhere in British Columbia.
