Severe thunderstorm warnings west of Red Deer, several watches in effect

A severe thunderstorm warning in effect this afternoon for Lacombe County near Eckville, as well as Clearwater County near Rocky Mountain House, Crimson Lake, Caroline and James River Bridge.

Environment Canada says meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, nickel to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain.

At 3:02 p.m. the thunderstorm was located near Chedderville and moving to the northeast at 60 km/h.
