An investigation opened in mid-January led Rocky Mountain House RCMP to conduct a search warrant at a residence in town, and seize a handgun and fentanyl.

An investigation was launched by the Rocky Mountain House General Investigation Section (GIS), with the assistance of the Red Deer ALERT, and a search warrant was executed on March 11, 2021.

Four people were arrested in the residence, without incident, and three of them were released with no charges.

James Robert Werner, 62, of Rocky Mountain House has been charged with trafficking under the CDSA, and three firearms related charges. Following a judicial interim release, he was remanded in custody.
