Drayton Valley RCMP Report: February 11 – February 18

February 11

9:01 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Suspicious vehicle on a lease site in town. Members attended, teens were just hanging out.

11:32 am – Parkland County – Twp 510 – Report of a structure fire on a rural property. Police and Parkland Fire attended, the owners had a permit and it was a controlled fire.

2:04 pm – Brazeau County – Lodgepole – Complaint of a possible break-in at a residence. Members attended and spoke with the owner of the property who was leaving a window open for cats to come in and out.

4:54 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Request for a wellbeing check on a person. Police attended and confirmed their wellbeing.

5:56 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of threats regarding child custody. Police spoke with complainant, threats were not criminal in nature, and advised matter would need to be addressed in court.

6:15 pm – Drayton Valley – Complaint of harassment. Police spoke with involved parties, no evidence to believe it was not a coincidence. Complainant was provided information on documenting further occurrences to identify trends.

8:36 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued violation tickets for driving uninsured vehicle and no driver’s licence.

February 12

8:02 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Report of several vehicles parked near a residence blocking driveway and alley access. Police attended and located the owners who moved their vehicles.

10:11 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – 911 hang-up from the Econorest. Police attended and located a female who was arrestable for the assault file from February 4. 37-year-old Kristen Gordon of Drayton Valley was charged with assault with a weapon and held for a Judicial Release Hearing where she was released on a Release Order by a Justice of the Peace for court on March 16, 2021, in Drayton Valley.

11:18 am – Drayton Valley – Madsen Avenue – 911 hang-up from the hospital. Misdial, no emergency.

11:25 am – Drayton Valley – 34 Avenue – Structure fire at a business. Police and Drayton Valley Fire Department attended. Everyone evacuated safely and the fire was contained.

12:46 pm – Drayton Valley – Beckett Road – Suspicious vehicle with copper wire. Police attended and spoke with the owner. The wire was casings, no evidence to believe anything was stolen.

1:50 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of bullying within the school. Police spoke with the involved parties, no evidence of any criminal offences, matter being dealt with by the school.

1:56 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Collision between a vehicle and a building. No damage to the building and no injuries.

February 13

12:09 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Report of a loud banging in an apartment. Police attended and found the boiler room door was open, closed it, and the complainant was satisfied.

3:32 am – Brazeau County – Twp 492 – Traffic stop with a black Jeep Compass. As a result of providing a breath sample due to the mandatory alcohol screening, the driver was issued an Immediate Roadside Suspension for operating a motor vehicle with any alcohol or drug in their body while they are a Novice Driver. The vehicle was seized for 7 days and their driver’s license was suspended for 30 days.

7:46 am – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22/Twp 491 – Vehicle fire, semi-tractor started on fire on the side of the road. Members attended with Drayton Valley Fire Department.

3:53 pm – Drayton Valley – Victim of a stolen vehicle received a phone call after posting his contact information on social media. The unknown person tried to extort money from the victim to know the location of his truck.

7:09 pm – Drayton Valley – 46 Street – Unwanted phone calls received from a blocked number shouting derogatory terms. The issue was not ongoing but the complainant wanted the matter documented in the event it continues.

February 14

3:03 am – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – While on patrol, members located a business with a broken window on the front door. The business itself was still secure and it was not clear what had broken the window. File number left for staff in order to follow up with surveillance footage when they reopen.

5:58 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Attempted break-in to a business between 5:30-5:40 am. No entry was made to the business itself, but the suspect did gain entry to an exterior storage shed. The suspect was wearing a yellow jacket with black on the shoulders/elbows.

10:56 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Report of a break-in to a secure yard of a business. Surveillance showed that between 4:30-5:10 am an unknown male is seen cutting through a fence while a vehicle appears to be driving around the area as a lookout. A red Honda 2000 watt generator and other tools were stolen. The suspect was the same as a person of the other break-in that was reported earlier, wearing a yellow jacket with black on the shoulders/elbows. The vehicle seen in the area is a blue older model sedan, possibly a Pontiac or Dodge with a silver/grey driver’s side door.

2:37 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Call of an idling semi in town. Driver located, advised he would be leaving shortly, no further issues.

2:41 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Complaint of people consuming liquor/cannabis in public. Police attended, no open containers were found but the suspects admitted to it and were warned and educated about the laws/fines regarding consuming in public.

February 15

12:09 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle. Black Dodge Diesel truck is parked outside their vent and running. Members attended, vehicle was turned off. Registered owner notified.

12:21 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Members called to assist female who was subsequently transported to hospital by EMS.

2:24 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Driver attended the detachment to report a dangerous driver on the North Saskatchewan bridge. Members spoke to the driver of the other vehicle.

2:24 pm – Drayton Valley – A shed was broken into overnight at a local school. Members are awaiting video of the incident.

4:24 pm – Drayton Valley – 46 St – Mischief to vehicle reported. Members attended and spoke with complainant. Suspect was identified, however, there was not enough evidence at the time for a charge.

5:50 pm – Brazeau County – RR 75 – Suspicious vehicle in the area. Members attended and located the vehicle. Member found no cause for concern.

8:03 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant from a previous file called police to say they had seen stolen property on the Drayton Valley buy and sell. Investigation is ongoing.

8:25 pm – Parkland County – Hwy 624 – Member located a male walking on the highway toward town. No signs of distress. Courtesy ride provided.

10:27 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Members attempted to stop a vehicle. Vehicle was located a short distance away. Vehicle was involved in a break and enter to a lease site. 2 suspects in custody.

February 16

8:18 am – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 494 – Member responded to a complaint of an injured deer. Member euthanized deer due to serious injuries.

9:18 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a stolen cheque used on his account, under investigation.

9:20 am – Brazeau County – Lodgepole area – Complainant attended detachment to report damaging his truck after forgetting he had parked by a cement barrier.

1:22 pm – Drayton Valley – Meier Ave – Complainant requested a wellbeing check on an acquaintance. Member confirmed the person was fine.

2:39 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant called about his adult daughter who he had gone to pick up from a location and was now causing issues in his vehicle. Member attended and mediated a solution.

4:35 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a female had mentioned doing drugs in a motel room. Members attended and spoke to a male and female in the room who denied the presence of any drugs, though they both appeared under the influence. No grounds for further police action.

5:19 pm – Drayton Valley – Members responded to a domestic situation. Investigation lead to a male being arrested and held for a bail hearing on 3 charges. An Emergency Protection Order was also obtained. Under investigation.

6:47 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant requested a wellbeing check on a motel guest. Members attended and determined the guest was sleeping off a bout of drinking.

6:52 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported the possible location of some property stolen previously in Rocky Mountain House. Under investigation.

7:03 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant attended the detachment to report her boyfriend had assaulted her. Statement obtained and the male was arrested and subsequently released on conditions to appear at a later date.

10:25 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reported her husband overdue from a trip to Stettler, should have been home by now. Member investigated, complainant subsequently advised that husband had called, was making his way home and was fine.

February 17

12:00 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported people squatting in an apartment, coming and going, being noisy. Member attended and spoke to the manager who is in process of getting some problem tenants evicted.

12:27 am – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported her brother banging on the door and “going crazy” over money. Members attended, brother alleged complainant owed him money. The brother was arrested and held in cells overnight until sober.

10:58 am – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Complainant attended the detachment to report a hit and run to her vehicle while it was in a parking lot.

11:18 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant requested assistance in locating an 11-year-old student who had left school. The boy was located at the Skate Park.

1:26 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 492/50 Ave – Complainant reported damage to his vehicle while parked at a business.

3:49 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Ave – Complainant reported neighbours arguing loudly for about a half-hour. Members attended, domestic argument only, no charges.

5:35 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant approached member who was dealing with an unrelated matter and advised her ex was harassing her. File opened, both parties spoken to, no charges.

7:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 55 Ave – Members assisted Edmonton Police with a “next of kin” notification.

9:29 pm – Brazeau County – Birchwood – Members responded to a domestic incident. After investigation, a male was arrested and charged with assault. At time of writing he remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

10:31 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Members responded to a report of males fighting in a restaurant lounge. Upon arrival, all of the unidentified combatants had left the scene.

February 18

12:00 am – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported her dog barking and upon looking outside observed her gate torn off her deck. Members responded and patrolled the area but no one was located, insufficient evidence to investigate further.
