Four wanted in December shooting incident believed to be in Rocky area

A robbery in December where police say shots were fired at a victim has led to charges and arrest warrants against four adult males believed to be in the Rocky Mountain House area.

Alberta RCMP say in a news release that an employee was working on an oilfield lease site at about 3:30 p.m. on Dec. 12, 2020 when he saw two males driving away in his truck. Police say he tried to stop them when he was struck by a different truck occupied by two other males. The victim ran for safety when one of the men fired multiple shots at him but missed. The four men then fled in the two trucks, according to police, and the victim sought help.

The victim’s truck was recovered early the next morning. Mounties say the other truck involved in the incident was determined to be previously stolen.

On Feb. 11, charges were laid against the four males identified as being responsible following an investigation by the Rocky Mountain House RCMP’s General Investigation Section.

Darwin James Anderson, 24, Cruz Bigchild, 24, Evan William Thomas, 24, and Dawson Whitford, 18, are all facing robbery and firearms charges amongst others. Each is considered armed and dangerous and police say they should not be approached if spotted.
