Nov 21, 2020 | 2:00 PM

In partnership with its three member leagues, the Canadian Hockey League is launching the first ever Memorial eCup, presented by Kia.

Powered by veeZion, the event will feature junior hockey stars from each of the CHL’s 60 clubs, plus four distinguished hockey personalities.

The 64 participants will face off for virtual supremacy in the eSports tournament featuring NHL 21 on the Sony PlayStation 4.

Representing the Red Deer Rebels will be forward Chris Douglas. Matches will be streamed live to Facebook and Twitch, with fans encouraged to follow along at CHL.ca/memorialecup and across social media using #KiaCHLeCup.

The competition commences in a single-elimination format on Nov. 28 and runs through Dec. 17. The semifinal and final will be decided in best of three series.

The WHL has a slated start date for its actual season on the ice of Jan. 8, 2021.
