Alberta records 672 new COVID-19 cases, seven deaths

Alberta Health has announced that the province added 672 cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, bringing Alberta’s total to 35,545.

Only a limited online update was provided Wednesday due to the Remembrance Day holiday.

There are 217 Albertans in hospital because of COVID-19, 10 more than Monday, including 46 in intensive care, an increase of three.

An additional seven deaths from COVID-19 were reported to bring Alberta’s total to 383.

The number of tests completed over the past 24 hours, along with the number of people tested, was unavailable due to ongoing technical issues with the Alberta Health COVID-19 website.

Updated local COVID-19 numbers were also not released. As of Tuesday, Red Deer had 91 active cases and 180 recovered.

The Central zone had 317 active COVID-19 cases as of Tuesday.

On Wednesday, parents were notified of a confirmed COVID-19 case at École Oriole Park School.

Principal Lori Irvine told parents in a letter that school administration has contacted parents/guardians of students, as well as any staff/visitors who may have been in close contact with the case in the school.

She said Alberta Health Services continues to investigate the origins of the case.

St. Teresa of Avila School in Red Deer reported a confirmed case on Tuesday.

Lindsay Thurber Comprehensive High School reported two more cases on Tuesday in addition to two that were reported at the school last Friday.
