Red Deer County is reminding residents and business owners of the upcoming September 30 deadline to avoid penalties being applied to outstanding property taxes.
Property tax notices were sent out at the end of May, 2020, and the property tax deadline remained June 30, 2020. However, no penalties were applied for late payment during the three month deferral.
After the October 1 deadline, penalties will be immediately implemented at a rate of 4 per cent.
If ratepayers are unable to pay the full amount by September 30, Red Deer County encourages them to pay what they can afford and to contact Red Deer County. This will reduce any penalties incurred after the deadline.
