Drayton Valley seeking operator for Specialized Transportation Program

Drayton Valley Town Council is putting out a request for proposals in the hopes of securing a qualified operator to run the Specialized Transportation Program.

The Town has been working with the Drayton Valley Community Bus Association as well as other stakeholders to obtain adequate funds for the purchase of a wheelchair accessible van.

In March 2020, the Bus Association received a grant of $47,204 from the province’s Community Initiatives Program.

With additional funds from the Bus Association, the Drayton Valley Lamplighters, the Drayton Valley Community Foundation, and FCSS, the Town says there is now adequate funding for the purchase of a Handi-Van with the required amenities for the community.

Though the Specialized Transportation Program is operated by a non-municipal entity, the Handi-Van will be under the Town’s ownership with a lease agreement with the operator.
