Sylvan Lake man accused of child luring

Sylvan Lake RCMP have charged a 38-year-old male with luring a child following a complaint received on May 19 of an adult male texting a teenage female.
“The RCMP launched an investigation and determined other citizens had a concern about inappropriate contact from the suspect male,” reads a media release. “While the male did not physically meet with the teenage female, investigation indicates he was making efforts to meet with her.”
David Brown, 38, of Sylvan Lake was arrested on May 26 and following a bail hearing was released on strict conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court on July 31 in Red Deer Provincial Court.
“An incident like this is a good reminder to be aware of your children’s on line and text message interactions and to never send personal information to any person you do not know.” says Staff Sergeant Jeff McBeth, Detachment Commander of Sylvan Lake RCMP. “I am grateful that we were able to conclude this investigation quickly and before there was any physical contact.”
