May 7

8:47 am – Brazeau County – Complainant calling to report someone broke into the communication tower and stole batteries and solar panels.

10:18 am – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Complainant reporting possible sighting of a stolen vehicle. 1997 greenish-teal Chevy Silverado is on side of road, front left tire gone. Member attended, vehicle had been reported stolen from Camrose.

11:43 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting theft of batteries from communication lease site.

12:10 pm – Drayton Valley – Pleasantview Trailer Park – Complainant called to report small children on the road. No adults around. Members attended and observed the children. Parents located and spoken to.

1:21 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant called requesting police attendance. Ongoing issue. Members attended, complainant requested to be taken to hospital. Members provided a courtesy ride.

5:56 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued ticket for operating vehicle without registration.

6:20 pm – Drayton Valley – 56 Street – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a ticket for driving an uninsured motor vehicle.

6:45 pm – Drayton Valley – 7-11 – Complainant calling to report theft of phone. Male asked to use the phone and then left with it. Male wearing a grey sweatshirt and grey sweat pants. Member attended, phone located in front of the door.

9:48 pm – Tomahawk – Complainant reporting someone is trying to sell their ex-wife. Member contacted male who advised he overheard 3 males talking about it.

May 8

3:53 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant called 911 several times to report female had taken their phone last night and is refusing to give it back. Member advised complainant not to call 911 for this type of complaint. Member advised they would attempt to get phone back.

4:43 am – Drayton Valley – 43 Avenue – Complainant reporting they saw a suspicious vehicle driving away from their location. Another truck was parked with lights flashing and alarm going off. Vehicle had left and headed north on Hwy 22. Vehicle is a silver Ford with headache rack on back. Shortly after a person reported that someone had attempted to steal their vehicle. Member attended location, entry not made, no damage to vehicle.

10:29 am – Drayton Valley – File opened to assist another police agency with a possible sexual assault that occurred in their jurisdiction.

10:44 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a brown Ford Escape parked oddly, with the plate on the dashboard. Member investigated. Vehicle not stolen but the plate had been stolen and recovered in the past couple of days, the owner hadn’t reattached it yet.

11:49 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Third-party complaint that a male had his cell phone stolen and had been in a fight. Members attended, located three persons involved. The phone was returned, no one involved would provide a statement or evidence to support a charge.

12:08 pm – Tomahawk – Call received from a male claiming his phone had been stolen. Members investigated and determined the female suspect didn’t exist and that the complainant was suffering some mental health issues. A number of subsequent files were received from this complainant.

12:27 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Staff at a business received a call from a male advising he wasn’t coming to work and had left a bomb and a note in the business. Staff had checked and found no note, nor did they have a person employed by the name provided. Member investigated, the call originated in New Brunswick. Assistance was provided by local police who located the 15-year-old male. Apparently he and some friends had been making prank calls, though only one involved a threat of a bomb.

1:54 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported a female refusing to leave a motel room. Members attended and found a female, under the influence of drugs, in the shower. Members arrested the female and returned her to detachment cells to be released when less high.

2:04 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a young female seen crossing 50 St and entering a store. Member patrolled the area, young female not located. Local store staff advised the girl is a routine slushy customer who lives nearby.

3:24 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported that someone from a biker gang came to his hotel room and wrote a message in permanent marker. Member attended, complaint unfounded, male is suffering paranoia.

3:29 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported business alarm triggered, some cash taken from cash register. Member investigated, no sign of forced entry, possible suspect identified but insufficient evidence to charge.

3:30 pm – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reported a mailbox open and key left behind; did not appear to have been from a theft, more likely someone just left their key behind.

7:40 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reported 5 or 6 vehicles racing through the area, coming and going from the parking lot. Member attended and spoke to a group of youth drivers who were warned.

7:44 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported an unwanted male ringing the doorbell at a seniors’ residence. Staff spoke to the male who was reportedly seeking the use of a pen. Member attended and located the male who was advised to find a pen elsewhere.

8:04 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported 2 persons on dirtbikes on pathways and travelling about double the speed limit. Member attended and tracked the bikes to Aspenview area, but was unable to physically locate the culprits.

8:45 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Female reported her estranged boyfriend as possibly suicidal as he had left stating he was going to do drugs. Members investigated and determined the male wasn’t suicidal though he was done with the relationship.

9:15 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 St – Complainant reported a male rummaging around in her garage, appeared to be high. Male had a pocket knife and asked if she had taken his picture. A male was located and arrested as he was prohibited from possessing knives.

10:12 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reported vehicles stunting in the parking lot. Member attended, no stunting vehicles located.

10:22 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – A vehicle was stopped after being seen leaving the area, multiple minor offences observed. A ticket was issued for one of the offences observed.

10:32 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Complainant reported seeing two persons on bikes possibly trying to break into a business. Members located the suspects and determined they had been dumpster diving. Business was secure, the two were advised to not return.

11:02 pm – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant requested a check on an employee who missed a routine “check in”. Member attended and confirmed employee was fine.

11:42 pm – Parkland County – Moon Lake vicinity – Complainant reported neighbours playing loud music and doing u-turns on the road. Member attended the location which was now quiet.

May 9

2:49 am – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Complainant reported his 1994 Dodge pickup stolen. A male was seen driving away toward Dairy Queen. The truck was located abandoned about a half-hour later on 55B Ave, property had been stolen from the vehicle.

3:24 am – Parkland County – Hwy 759/624 – Complainant reported stunting vehicles and squealing tires in the area, one vehicle in the ditch. Member attended and located two vehicles involved in a collision. A 20-year-old male was charged with driving while unauthorized.

3:43 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Third-party complaint received of a possible attempted kidnapping. Members located the possible victim and determined no offence likely occurred, that the female involved appeared to be suffering a drug-induced paranoia. The female was taken to an alternate location where she felt safe.

3:49 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported people trying to get into his hotel room. The caller has made multiple recent such complaints, all unfounded, and is suffering some mental health issues. The male was taken to the hospital on a prior occurrence but released. Members determined no one was trying to get into his room, he was advised to consume less illicit drugs as it appeared they were contributing to his paranoia.

6:35 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complaint received from the male who called at 3:49 am; this time reporting he was surrounded by organized criminals. Members determined he didn’t feel safe in his current accommodations and so he was transported elsewhere, where hopefully he’d be able to sleep after “3 days awake.”

6:57 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a suspicious vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment building. Described as a black car with four male occupants. Member attended but the vehicle was gone.

12:08 pm – Drayton Valley – 55B St – Complainant reported suspicious males who had exited a vehicle and were walking along a treeline, near where a stolen truck had been recovered. Member was able to determine they were related to the recovered stolen truck and likely looking for property stolen from the truck.

1:44 pm – Drayton Valley – 56 Ave – Complainant reported unknown culprit entered her yard overnight and stole several bags of bottles.

3:36 pm – Drayton Valley – Rotary Park – Complainant reported observing a drug deal in the park. Members responded and viewed video taken by complainant, unable to identify the suspects. Patrols of the area failed to locate the two involved.

5:05 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant called from Tomahawk reporting that his brother was at his parents’ residence in breach of his conditions. The complainant is suffering some mental health issues and made a similar complaint a couple days prior. Member contacted the complainant’s mother who advised his brother wasn’t there, and the complainant won’t stop calling her.

5:47 pm – Tomahawk – The complainant from the above file reported that someone had tapped his phone and was sending him messages. The complainant called back several hours later reporting someone had stolen his coat. No one stole anything, he is suffering mental health issues and believed to be using drugs.

8:24 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reporting youth in pickup trucks racing through the area. Patrols were made.

8:39 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/54 St – Complainant reported a female possibly suicidal, saying concerning things. Members attended and determined the female was experiencing some mental health issues and talking expressively about bible verses, the rapture and end times, and perhaps believed COVID-19 was related. She was not suicidal.

10:37 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported repeated texts and calls from her ex who was calling her derogatory names and making some non-physical threats. Both parties were spoken to and the suspect was warned to stop or he’d face charges.

11:54 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Security for a business reported a suspicious male on a bike, wearing a face mask, last seen headed toward Poplar Ridge area. Member made patrols but the masked cyclist wasn’t located.

May 10

2:30 am – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Complainant reported someone had been in his unlocked car, the suspect left when complainant turned on lights. Complainant had a suspect in mind. Member attended and searched the area but no suspect was located.

3:46 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported there were 15 people outside his apartment and he feared they were going to kill him. Members responded and arrested the complainant to prevent more calls for service and so he could sober up in cells safely. This complainant had made multiple similar calls in recent days, all unfounded and believed related to drug use.

4:06 am – Drayton Valley – 55A Ave – Complainant reported a car alarm activated in the area, then was turned off. Member patrolled the area but located nothing suspicious.

5:03 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported hitting a deer near Sekura Auctions. No damage to vehicle, but deer badly injured. Member attended and euthanized the deer due to its back legs being broken. Second call received for same deer on roadway.

6:48 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St –Alarm going off at a bank. Member attended, bank was secure. May have been caused by a short power outage.

6:48 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Alarm going off at a Pizza shop. Member attended, premise secure, likely caused by power outage.

7:26 am – Tomahawk – Complainant reported there were people locked inside a business basement. Complainant was belligerent on the phone. Members attended, complainant reported his phone stolen (unsure how he called police) and there was an RCMP member locked in the basement. No one was in the basement and when members were on scene the complainant denied having called. Mental health and drug use issues.

9:06 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complaint of an audible alarm activated inside a beer store. Member attended, premise secure. Property rep contacted to attend and reset the alarm.

9:19 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complaint received of a male in a hotel room, possibly suicidal. Members responded and gained entry to the room. The male was located and wasn’t suicidal, though he had been in a very deep sleep.

10:31 am – Brazeau County – Buck Creek Rd – Report of an abandoned truck. Had been reported before but couldn’t be located. Complainant advised the truck was now out in the open and another truck was with it. Member attended and located two persons – both known to police – in the second truck “having coffee.” They initially reported truck wasn’t stolen, but was unregistered/uninsured and in a Provincial Park. Vehicle was towed from the area.

4:12 pm – Tomahawk – Complainant called to report two people arguing in the room above him. Members responded, no argument, complainant having mental health issues compounded by suspected drug use.

4:48 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported people surrounding his residence, requested Edmonton Police as unhappy with local police. Member attended, got the male to open his door. No people surrounding his residence, member reached an agreement to followup the next day and try to get him in a rehab program as meth use was causing most of his issues.

5:55 pm – Drayton Valley – 47A Ave – Complainant reported finding a young boy wandering the alley. Members unable to identify the 4-year-old and contacted CFS. CFS and attending members located the father’s residence and found him in a deep sleep on the couch after he had not responded to knocking. CFS intervened and directed that the child was to remain at the mother’s residence until further notice.

6:47 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 St – Complainant reported hearing a single gunshot in the area. Members patrolled the area but were unable to locate the source. Several witnesses reported a loud bang, suggested it may have been a backfire or fireworks.

9:11 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant once again reported (imaginary) people surrounding his residence.

9:44 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a female banged a shopping cart into security shutters at a business. Members attended and found no damage. Female, who is known to police, was located and warned against continuing her uncivilized behaviour.

10:01 pm – Tomahawk – Complainant requested assistance in removing a tenant who was causing repeated issues. Members had dealt with the male multiple times in recent days. Members responded but the male was not located in his room or in the area.

11:38 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant called 911 multiple times for people outside his residence. Complainant was hiding inside. Multiple calls from the same male.

11:50 pm – Brazeau County – Members attended a residence to assist EMS with a male who had passed out, possibly related to some “bad weed from the street.” Members weren’t required.

May 11

1:16 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Hangup 911 call, related to the earlier complaints of people surrounding a residence. Member attended, male wished to go to a hotel. He was taken to a hotel and agreed to stop calling police.

1:59 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Anonymous complaint of a male “bothering people”. Members attended and found that the suspect had left and had been arguing with the anonymous complainant.

9:53 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a license plate lost or stolen, last seen on May 9th.

11:10 am – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported that a male may be at a residence breaching conditions. Welfare concerns due to past domestic incidents. Members attended and the male wasn’t at the residence.

11:41 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Complainant reported a male in her yard, who she recognized as a bottle scavenger. Male had knocked on her door, was now in the ditch hollering and throwing his hands up in the air. Member attended and provided the male a ride back to town.

1:00 pm – Drayton Valley – 48A Ave – Complainant requested assistance in retrieving belongings from ex-spouse. Member tried unsuccessfully to contact the male and advised the complainant this was a civil matter and would need to be dealt with in court or via a separation agreement.

2:51 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a fight ongoing, related to a male who was to be moving out. Members attended, verbal argument only, civil issue.

2:53 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Complainant calling from his hotel room reporting “they had found him” and that his ex had a “hit” on him. Members attended, complainant hallucinating due to drug use.

3:22 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Complainant reported finding a bicycle leaned up against his trailer.

3:27 pm – Drayton Valley – Members observed a known male driving while suspended. A traffic stop was conducted. The male was released to attend court at a later date and the truck he was driving was impounded for 60 days due to repeat offences.

3:28 pm – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – 911 call, did not appear to be an emergency call; either a pocket dial or children. Source not located.

4:49 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported his ex refusing to leave his hotel room. Members attended, argument only, female was waiting for a taxi. The female was arrested on warrants out of Breton area and released for court at a later date.

8:16 pm – Drayton Valley/Brazeau County – Members responded to the hospital for a report of a male dropped off suffering a gunshot wound. The male had been hit with birdshot and was uncooperative with police. Video from the hospital was viewed which showed the vehicle that dropped off the male. Member on patrol located the car heading south on Hwy 620 and a pursuit was initiated which lead into the Rocky Mountain House area where a spike belt was deployed successfully. The occupants then fled into the forest. Police Dog Services assisted but the suspects weren’t located. Under investigation, likely related to recent event in Rocky Mountain House area.

8:46 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complaint received of a couple arguing in an apartment. A 911 call was also received from the couples’ apartment. Members attended and determined there had been an argument only, caused by current stressors in their lives. The male was taken elsewhere for the night for a cooling-off period.

10:46 pm – Drayton Valley – 48 Ave – Complainant reported fireworks. Members were busy out of town on a priority matter. Member attended the area later but nothing found.

11:30 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Member attended the hotel room of a male and arrested him under the Mental Health Act. The male, who had made multiple recent unfounded complaints to police, was transported to a designated mental health facility for treatment.

May 12

3:41 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Complaint of an alarm at a business. Property rep determined it was false, caused by a door left insecure.

8:54 am – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Complainant reported their vehicle hit while parked in a business lot.

11:32 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Twp 504 N/B – Complainant reported a garbage truck with bin on back losing garbage. Vehicle not located by Drayton Valley members, request sent to Evansburg RCMP to patrol for the truck.

11:34 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported the theft of a trailer. Suspects obtained the trailer by fraudulently claiming to represent a legitimate local company.

1:44 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a male passed out in a blue Toyota Echo parked at a business, ongoing for the past hour. Members attended and after conducting a field sobriety test the driver was issued a 24-hour suspension from driving and the car was towed.

2:03 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – In cooperation with Alberta Health, a business was issued a ticket under the Public Health Act for failing to comply with current restrictions. The business owner had been warned previously to close on April 23rd and was found open again on May 9th.

3:18 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complaint received from a business of a very high female causing a disturbance in a store. The female was bothering customers, telling them police directed her to shower in the back and that her family had died in the store. Members arrested the female who was lodged in cells to be released when sober.

4:42 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Two complainants attended the detachment to report a third male assaulted one of them in a dispute over car seats. The victim had been pushed to the ground. The complainants requested police “deal with” the suspect but wouldn’t provide statements or attend court. Member advised that for the suspect to be “dealt with” by police they needed to provide evidence. No further action taken.

7:32 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a male who was possibly suicidal. The male was allegedly hearing voices that were telling him to harm himself. Members located the male who was apprehended under the Mental Health Act and transported to a mental health facility.

7:44 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a male taking apart a bicycle behind Fas Gas. Member attended and identified the male, determining that he had crashed his brake-less bicycle and was putting it back together.

May 13

12:43 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Complaint received of a noisy party. Member located the location where the gathering had been. Property rep had been playing music for a few guests while they enjoyed a fire, but guests had left. The male apologized for the noise.

9:25 am – Drayton Valley – 55 St – Complainant reported two males trying to gain entry to a confinement tank on adjacent property. Males then left the location. Members attended and patrolled the area but didn’t locate the suspects.

10:42 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reported a boat and trailer left on a lease site for several days. Member investigated and determined the owner had truck trouble and left them on the lease site until he could pull them home.

12:28 pm – Drayton Valley – 7/11 – Complainant reported a male in the store who was previously banned, had been asking customers for money. Suspect left on foot prior to members arriving. Members located the male a few blocks away who stated the clerk was rude so he had left; he was advised not to return.

2:12 pm – Drayton Valley – 48 St – Complainant reported an unknown person left a backpack in her yard.
