Rocky RCMP Report March 6-12

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of March 6 – 12

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

Special note from the Rocky Mountain House RCMP First Nation Crime Reduction Unit.

On the 6th day of March 2020, Members of the First Nation Crime Reduction Unit (FNCRU) within Rocky Mountain House RCMP, were completing enquiries on O’Chiese and Sunchild First Nations for suspects wanted on outstanding warrants. FNCRU located one of the suspects that they had recently been looking for on Sunchild. The suspect was known to reside and frequent on both Sunchild and O’Chiese.

The suspect was arrested for his outstanding warrant, and charged with multiple fail to comply offences, as well as possessing methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking. 11.03g was located with the suspect. The suspect was remanded into custody, to appear in RMH Provincial Court on March 11, 2020.

March 6

8:59 A.M. – Report of a B&E overnight to a church in RMH. A safe was damaged with a grinder. Under investigation.

11:56 A.M. – B&E reported to a garage & tool shed at residence on Range Road 8-5A, Clearwater County.

1:13 P.M. – Police arrested an adult male at residence on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve for outstanding warrants. During the arrest, a bag of Meth fell out of his pocket resulting in further charges being laid.

3:50 P.M. – Wallet & ID stolen from a vehicle while parked in front of residence in RMH. VISA was used at a local coffee shop. Under investigation.

March 7

9:24 A.M. – White DODGE Ram stolen overnight from a residence in RMH. Vehicle recovered in town the following day.

1:37 P.M. – Report of an assault in RMH after 2 male colleagues got into a verbal argument.

March 8

11:25 A.M. – Coveralls stolen from a truck while parked at residence in RMH.

March 9

5:52 A.M. – Theft of a white FORD F250 long box stolen from a residence in RMH, while running with the doors locked.

10:55 A.M. – B&E reported to a residence and outbuildings on Boundary Trail, Clearwater County. Under investigation.

1:51 P.M. – Report of a vehicle and trailer broken into on SecHwy #752 while owners out riding snowmobiles near Prairie Creek Road. 2 firearms were stolen including a SKS rifle and a black Savage 625.

7:42 P.M. – Stolen U-Haul FORD cube van recovered in RMH after in was reported stuck in the snow. It had been stolen earlier in the day from Red Deer. An adult male was arrested in the area a short time later after he was spotted hiding behind some houses. Charges are pending for failing to comply with a probation order.

8:13 P.M. – Theft of firewood and a log split from a site on SecHwy #591.

March 10

10:10 A.M. – Police arrested an adult male subject in RMH on outstanding arrest warrants & upon being searched, a container of Meth was found. He was released to appear at a later court date.

3:18 P.M. – B&E to a residence on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve. A stolen pickup truck also found abandoned on the property. Under investigation

3:42 P.M. – 2016 black POLARIS RMK snowmobile stolen from the back of pickup truck.

6:29 P.M. – Home owner in Clearwater County arrived home to find front door kicked in and marijuana stolen from residence.

March 11

1:45 A.M. – An adult male from RMH was arrested after being observed driving a vehicle with a stolen licence plate from Calgary. When police attempted to full the suspect over, he fled at a high rate of speed. He was apprehended after the tire deflation device was used on Buster Creek Road. Numerous charges were laid and he was released to appear at a later court date in RMH.

7:56 A.M. – Report of a shoplifter at a local RMH hardware store. The male suspect, in his late 20’s, stole a number of items and tried to steal a grinder before fleeing west on foot.

10:52 A.M. – Report of an intoxicated male staggering around the parking lot of the curling rink in RMH. Police attended and arrested the individual who was RWS.

March 12

4:57 A.M. – Theft of a 2004 silver CHEVROLET Avalanche stolen from residence in RMH
