RDC Kings win, Queens lose national quarterfinals matches

RDC volleyball teams came out on both sides of the ledger as they began play for national titles on Thursday.

At the CCAA Men’s Volleyball Championships in Fredericton, NB, the RDC Kings earned a straight sets win over the St. Thomas Tommies in their quarterfinals match.

Red Deer won by set scores of 25-13, 27-28 and 25-16.

Ben Holmes and Carter Hills each had 10 kills for the Kings while Patrick Toze had eight.

Toze was named Player of the Match for RDC.

Next up for the Kings is a semifinals match Friday at 5 p.m. MT.

The RDC Queens dropped a hard fought five-set quarterfinals match to Fanshawe College at the CCAA Women’s Volleyball Championships in Quebec.

Set scores were 28-26, 23-25, 22-25, 25-15, 15-11.

McKenna Olson was named Player of the Match for RDC.

The Queens will play in a bronze semifinal match Friday at 11 a.m. MT versus Lynx d’Édouard-Montpetit.
