Drayton Valley’s Eldorado Elementary to officially close

The Wildrose School Division will officially be closing Eldorado Elementary School in Drayton Valley.

At the division’s December 17th meeting, the Board of Trustees decided to close Eldorado and open the new replacement school in January 2021.

The new replacement school is being built to replace Evergreen Elementary that was demolished in 2018 due to structural issues. The Board announced at the meeting that the new replacement school will be given the name Evergreen Elementary after it was chosen from a list of 10 name suggestions.

Upon closure, all of the students from Eldorado Elementary will be transferred to either the new replacement school or Aurora Elementary School in Drayton Valley.

The Board of Trustees also passed a resolution to continue the operation of Drayton Valley Christian School in the building they have been sharing with Eldorado Elementary, using only the space that is required while the rest of the building is closed.
