Snowfall Warning issued for Rocky Mountain House

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for the Rocky Mountain House area.

Significant snowfall could impact the following communities:

  • Brazeau Co. near Brazeau Dam
  • Brazeau Co. near Cynthia and Lodgepole
  • Clearwater Co. near Caroline and James River Bridge
  • Clearwater Co. near Rocky Mtn House and Crimson Lake
  • O’Chiese 203 Res. and Clearwater Co. near Sunchild Cree Res.
  • Yellowhead Co. near Minnow and Wolf Lakes and Elk River

The warning states that 10 to 20 cm are expected.

“An area of heavy snow will continue to affect Jasper and Banff National Parks and areas near Grande Cache. This same area of snow will also begin to move east tonight towards Edson, before gradually sliding south down the Alberta foothills and ending from north to south throughout the weekend. Snowfall totals, especially in the mountain parks could locally exceed 30 cm.

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.”
