The Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre (CASASC) is partnering with the Students’ Association of Red Deer College (SA) for a gender-based violence awareness event.

The #YourWordsMatter event goes tomorrow (Thursday, Nov. 28) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Forum in Red Deer College, featuring an info fair and silent march.

“The purpose of this event is to bring awareness to the widespread issue of gender-based violence within our society,” CASASC says in a release.

The info fair will feature interactive displays, resources and information about eliminating gender-based violence in our community.

The silent march is meant to be a quiet and proactive, yet visual way to bring awareness throughout the RDC main campus. The silent march will depart from the Forum at 11:45 a.m. with attendees wearing purple and carrying positive messaging.

#YourWordsMatter occurs on the fourth day of the SA’s 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, which began on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (Nov. 25) and ends on International Human Rights Day on Dec. 10.
