Fire and rain prompts disaster designations

Oct 3, 2019 | 7:50 AM

EDMONTON- Wildfires and too much rain this year have prompted the UCP government to declare some official disasters.

They include wildfires that damaged the Buffalo Lake Metis Settlement, Lamont County and Mackenzie County.

Other disasters included flooding and extreme rain that drenched the Municipal District of Lesser Slave River, Rocky View County, Yellowhead County, Lac St. Anne County, Parkland County, Brazeau County and the Town of Stony Plain.

The declarations allow the government to cover extraordinary losses, damage and emergency response costs.
