Drayton Valley RCMP Report: Sept. 12-18

September 12

10:24 am – Brazeau county – Wiley West – Complainant reporting people are attempting to break into the coin boxes at the campground.

11:17 am – Drayton Valley – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver was arrested on outstanding warrants and in addition, charged with possession of stolen property for a stolen licence plate which was on the vehicle.

11:30 am – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Complainant reporting a suspicious male in the outdoor fenced and locked compound behind Walmart. Member attended location and located male who matched the description. Peter Bilan, 40, was arrested and charged with several offences including theft, break and enter and mischief.

12:44 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a semi driving erratically on the highway. Complainant observed driver throwing a beer can out the window. Member patrolled area with negative results. Company contacted and they advised they would investigate internally.

10:58 pm – Drayton Valley – Swimming Pool – Member on patrol observed two individuals walking. Member recognized them and being aware that one was on 24-hour house arrest in Winfield, stopped them. Seth Johnson, 19, was arrested for breaching conditions and held for a bail hearing.

September 13

12:11 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 504 – Complainant reporting a break in to their yard. Tools were taken. Fence had been cut into the back of the property.

1:38 pm – Drayton Valley – Frank Maddock High School – Complainant reporting one of the sheds on the football field was broken into. Two non-working generators, one small working generator a number of cans of white spray paint, miscellaneous medical supplies and six high school football hoodies were stolen.

7:00 pm – Drayton Valley – Member on patrol observed a white Chevrolet with a plate that did not match. It was parked on a private driveway. Member observed the vehicle later on, vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed. Vehicle ditched at Weyhauser. Vehicle not stolen, Female in vehicle arrested on scene, driver attended detachment shortly after and turned themselves in.

September 14

6:58 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant called to report a vehicle in front was swerving all over the road. Member did not locate the vehicle, however contacted the registered owner and provided a warning for their manner of driving.

7:21 pm – Drayton Valley – Aspen Motor Inn – Complainant reporting their truck was hit by a black Dodge who then drove away.

11:28 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Complainant reporting a male trying to open a door on a utility trailer outside the construction site of the new school. Suspect left when they observed complainant. Members patrolled area, but did not locate. Trailer was secured, did not gain entry.

September 15

8:06 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 753 – Complainant reporting a burnt out truck. Member attended and located a burned GMC Sierra.

12:08 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 514 – Complainant reporting they came home to their residence and it was burned. Member attended and called Fire Department. Cause of Fire possibly a space heater which had been left on.

September 16

2:58 am – Brazeau County – Birchwood Village – Complainant reporting the chain link fence at the golf course had been driven through. Member attended, unable to contact the property rep. Area taped off.

3:32 am – Drayton Valley – Brougham Drive – Complainant reporting someone attempted to break into the complainant’s truck. The truck alarm went off. Member attended. Drivers side door handle had been broken.

4:10 am – Yellowhead County – Elk River Road – Complainant reporting someone tried to steal their quads from their camp site. Members attended and observed a suspect vehicle fleeing into Rocky Mountain House’s area. Members forwarded information to neighbouring detachment. Quads later recovered in the woods.

12:57 pm – Drayton Valley – DV Rentals – Complainant reports an attempted break and enter to building. Outer Pane of glass on the north door was broken. No access to building made.

4:21 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reports theft of two solar panels, four 12-volt batteries, grounding wire, PIT plunger control box from an open lease site.

4:42 pm – Drayton Valley – 44A Avenue – Complainant reporting theft of white 2011 GMC 2500 truck over the weekend.

September 17

4:19 am – Drayton Valley – Brougham Drive – Complainant reporting a break in to their vehicle. Door handles were broken. Member attended. Same vehicle had been attempted to be broken into the previous evening.

4:59 am – Drayton Valley – Home Away Inn – Complainant located a vehicle with its window broken.

6:38 am – Drayton Valley – Home Away Inn – Complainant reporting their 2015 grey Dodge 1500 had been broken into by smashing the rear sliding window. Gas card, papers taken.

1:36 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting an attempted theft of vehicle. Damage to passenger side of their white 2005 Chevrolet Silverado 2500. Wallet, insurance, spare key taken.

3:25 pm – Drayton Valley – Independent Grocery Store – Complainant reporting known male is in the store shoplifting. Member attended and located male with unopened, undamaged items in their sleeves. Male arrested for theft.

September 18

10:34 am – Brazeau County – Complaint received for a child welfare concern. Police and Child and Family Services are investigating.

8:00 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Collision between a vehicle and a deer.

8:30 pm – Brazeau County – Twp 492 – Collision between a vehicle and a deer.

9:17 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Suspicious people possibly checking the doors to businesses, currently near KalTire. Police attended, stated they were scavenging through garbage containers. Showed members their backpacks, no signs of anything being stolen or broken into.
