RDC Kings win Babcock Cup over Lethbridge Pronghorns

The RDC Kings hockey team claimed the Babcock Cup over the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns over the weekend.

The annual competition between the two teams is held in honour of Mike Babcock, the current Toronto Maple Leafs bench boss who coached both the Kings (ACAC) and Pronghorns (U-Sports) on his way to the NHL.

The King won the first game over the Pronghorns on Saturday 3-2 in overtime.

On Sunday, the Kings doubled up the Pronghorns 6-3.

Six different players scored for RDC on Sunday, including Jake Wozney, Chase Thudium, Austin Hunter, Ryley Smith, Lynden Pastachek and Boedy Donald.

Nathan Alalouf turned aside 21 of 24 Lethbridge shots on goal to earn victory in goal. Former Red Deer Rebels goalie Taz Burman took the loss for Lethbridge. Former Rebels forward Brooks Maxwell.

The Kings have two more exhibition games scheduled before opening the ACAC regular season at MacEwan on Oct. 11 before playing hosting the Griffins the next night for their home opener.
