Drayton Valley weekly RCMP report May 8–16

May 8

Drayton Valley – Member was on patrol when they observed a white and black Dodge truck. Member recognized the driver who was suspended from driving. Member attempted a traffic stop and the vehicle fled. Member later obtained information that the driver had bought a new truck. Member located the truck, licence plate did not match the vehicle. Vehicle was seized and towed. Investigation revealed that the truck was stolen out of Edmonton and the truck vin had been altered. On this date, member arrested 33-year-old Matthew Lewis McKay of Drayton Valley. McKay has been charged with Dangerous operation of a vehicle, flight from police, driving while unauthorized, possession of stolen property, fraudulent concealment, possession of weapon in motor vehicle and altering a VIN.

May 9

10:53 am – Tomahawk – Complainant advises that they have been hauling hay for an individual and is currently stuck in a field. Individual is threatening to report the truck as stolen. Complainant advised they would be returning the truck and trailer back when conditions dry up.

12:03 pm – Drayton Valley – 55B Avenue – Complainant wishing intoxicated female be removed from residence. Members attended, parties separated. Verbal argument only.

2:18 pm – Drayton Valley – 54A Avenue – Complainant reporting a male is walking up and down the street with a sledge hammer. Male then got on top of a vehicle and is looking in the neighbours yard. Members attended and spoke with suspect. Advised to move on. Suspect did so with no issues.

2:49 pm – Drayton Valley – 54A Avenue – Complainant reporting a suspicious black Ford F150 with an older male and female have been parked in the back alley for the past couple of days. Members attended, vehicle was gone.

6:57 pm – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Complainant called 911 but was very uncooperative with the operator and would not answer questions in order to provide information required. Heated argument took place at WalMart. Complainant just wanted it reported to police.

8:51 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reporting vehicles stunting in the parking lot. Members attended, one of the suspect vehicles was described as a black jacked up Dodge Ram. Vehicles had left prior to arrival.

May 10

1:56 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Member conducted a traffic stop, Driver of vehicle was suspended. Driver arrested for impaired driving. Vehicle towed and impounded for 30 days.

7:39 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Complainant reporting a loud argument going on. Members attended, parties separated.

9:32 am – Drayton Valley – 45 Street – Complainant reporting they found a leaf blower under their holiday trailer. Member attended and seized leaf blower. Information was later received that a family member had bought the leaf blower as a gift for Mothers Day. Leaf blower returned.

12:19 pm – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Complainant reporting their 2017 white Jeep Cherokee had been hit while parked in the parking lot. Damage to rear window and tail light.

12:35 pm – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Complainant reporting adult males stole $767.63 worth of miscellaneous items.

12:42 pm – Drayton Valley – Derrick Lounge – Complainant reports losing their bank card. Card has been used 4 times for a total of $195.14.

1:20 pm – Drayton Valley – Smokers corner – Complainant reporting the mother of their ex is uttering threats. Matter is still under investigation.

1:24 pm – Drayton Valley – 62 Street – Complainant from Fortis Alberta reporting theft of a reel of unused secondary wire valued at $250. Entry made by cutting a hole in the fence.

3:04 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reporting suspicious males attempting to steal items. Nothing stolen.

3:08 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant reporting persons having a fire in the bush behind All Saints Angelic Church. Fire Department attended as well as member.

3:47 pm – Drayton Valley – 62 Street – Complainant advising they are having issues with squatters on their property.

4:30 pm – Drayton Valley – Little Lion’s Park – Members on patrol located a stolen vehicle. Two males arrested and charged with possession of stolen property. Names cannot be released as one of the males is a youth with extensive criminal record.

6:23 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant calling to report a dog chained to a vehicle. Vehicle is a red pickup truck with a flat deck. Dog is chained to the flat deck. Member spoke with the owner who advised that the dog was chained there so it would not run away or jump off while vehicle was driving. Dog had enough room to move around.

10:20 pm – Drayton Valley – Pleasantview Mobile Home Park – Third party complaint received of violence. Male occupant will not allow female to leave. Members attended and spoke to both parties.

11:35 pm – Drayton Valley – 48A Avenue – Complainant request a wellbeing check be conducted on an individual who hasn’t been heard from in a while. Member located person who was fine.

11:45 pm – Drayton Valley – McDonalds parking lot – Complainant reporting an individual is driving without a license. Suspect vehicle is a 2014 white Chev. Member patrolled area with negative results.

May 11

12:38 am – Drayton Valley – Royal Bank – Several alarms received at Royal Bank. Members attended, cleaning staff on site.

2:09 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant advised their 2012 grey Ford F150 was stolen.

4:01 am – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 504 – Complainant reporting suspicious truck in a field/lease road. Members attended location, no vehicles were observed in the area.

10:22 am – Lodgepole – Complainant called to report vandalism and theft from sheds. Toolboxes stolen. Members attended.

11:00 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant advised that their brown 1999 Ford F350 had been stolen sometime overnight. Vehicle was recovered in Stony Plain area.

1:30 pm – Drayton Valley – McDonalds parking lot – Complainant reporting they found a black wallet in the parking lot. Wallet seized and held at detachment.

3:02 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Street – complainant reporting a suspicious white truck with roof rack is driving up and down the alley behind their residence. Member patrolled area, vehicle not located.

3:13 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 502 – Complainant reporting a older Dodge truck on a cutline in the bush. Vehicle towed. Vehicle had been stolen from Derrick Mall parking lot on October 3, 2018.

3:46 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant turned in wallet which was found at the car wash. Member contacted owner to pick up.

5:10 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 753 – Complainant reporting an erratic driver in a blue 2015 Ford Super duty pulling a trailer with a Yamaha Rhino side by side. Vehicle is swerving all over the road and throwing things out the window.

5:10 pm – Drayton Valley – Western Trailer Court – Complainant reporting a suspicious female is emptying garbage and yelling. Member attended. Female is known to police. Member offered female water and then requested she move on which she did.

5:14 pm – Drayton Valley – West Valley Park Road – Complainant requesting members check on male passed out by the fire pits in Lions West Valley Park. Member attended, male not located.

6:45 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant reporting people in the trees behind their residence. Members attended and noted youth male who had just been released from custody run into the bushes.

7:06 pm – Brazeau County – Twp 480 – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle. Newer red Mustang has been parked roadside on RR81 near end of pavement. Members attended. Nothing suspicious.

11:24 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting an erratic driver in a black truck. Vehicle is tailgating. Complainant confronted driver roadside, driver told them to move it then drove away. Member contacted registered owner of vehicle and given warning about manner of driving.

May 12

8:17 am – Drayton Valley – RV Park – Complainant reporting theft from their Silverado and Dodge Ram trucks sometime overnight. Spare keys stolen along with bank card.

9:42 am – Drayton Valley – 43 Avenue – Complainant reporting theft from their vehicle overnight. Unknown what taken.

12:57 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a small 4 door silver or grey car is driving erratically. Members patrolled area, vehicle not located.

1:14 pm – Drayton Valley – 41 Street – Complainant reporting theft from their vehicle sometime overnight. Credit cards were stolen and used at Petro Canada North.

2:04 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reports having their vehicle stolen after they were bear maced and threatened with a rifle. Matter is still under investigation.

3:35 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting theft of batteries and copper wire. Members located 23-year-old Shawn Michael Goulet in possession of batteries. Goulet arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.

4:03 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 Street – Complainant called to report their vehicle stolen. Further investigation revealed vehicle had been towed.

4:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 41 Street – Complainant reported that someone rummaged through their vehicle. Vehicle had been unlocked. Stolen was a small amount of change, charges, tool kit, briefcase.

4:55 pm – Drayton Valley – 41A Avenue – Complainant called to report theft from vehicle overnight.

5:12 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 485 – Complainant reporting a trailer with 2 quads on it is currently in the ditch, no vehicle. Member attended, Registered owner called and they advised their vehicle had broken down.

May 13

4:55 am – Parkland County – Tomahawk Community Hall – Complainant reporting alarm at the community hall. Hall had been broken into.

5:56 am – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 492 – Complainant reporting someone broke into the warehouse site and stole a roll of copper wire. Hole cut in south fence.

6:38 am – Drayton Valley – 58 Avenue – Complainant reporting a burned bobcat in a field. Occurred sometime overnight.

9:38 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 624 – Member was on patrol and observed female walking on the highway. Female was intoxicated. Member arrested female for intoxicated in public. Female was released when sober, no charges.

12:06 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 492 – Complainant reporting two helmets and tools were stolen from a quonset sometime overnight.

1:46 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Avenue – Complainant reporting theft of dark blue BMX bike. Bike was stolen from backyard. Diamond sticker on frame, green/black grips.

2:54 pm – Lodgepole – Complainant reporting their SUV was stolen. On going issue. SUV is marital property, not stolen. Members attended and spoke with both parties.

3:04 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Complainant reporting two trucks speeding in alley. Ongoing issue. Member attended location and spoke with driver of one of the trucks. Warned about manner of driving.

4:22 pm – Drayton Valley – 20 Avenue – 911 hangup. Hotel staff advised it was a misdial.

6:17 pm – Drayton Valley – Country Style Trailer Court – Complainant reporting receiving threats from known male. Male pulled into their driveway and told complainant he would mess up their day. Member attended and spoke with both parties.

7:26 pm – Drayton Valley – Centre Court Trailer Park – Complainant reporting vandalism to their 1998 silver Dodge Dakota. Battery crushed and battery acid poured onto vehicle. Possible suspect.

10:20 pm – Drayton Valley – 7-11 – Complainant reporting middle aged female with a grey hoodie, blue shirt and dark pants is in front of the store. Believes they are intoxicated. Member attended, female gone.

11:24 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting people are walking up and down the alley screaming and yelling, singing. Member attended, small group having a bon fire.

11:55 pm – Drayton Valley – Service Plus Encore – Complainant called mother in Stony Plain to pick her up, Mother couldn’t. Member attended and arranged for female to stay at Econorest.

May 14

12:32 am – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Member on patrol located suspect from previous vandalism to vehicle in the parking lot. Darren Kravik, 41, arrested and charged. Outstanding warrants from Breton. Search revealed a small amount of methamphetamine.

10:20 am – Drayton Valley – 50A Street – complainant with Lincoln County Oilfield reported someone entered their yard and cut and stole welding cable from 2 trucks. Value approximately $1000 to $2000 .

11:29 am – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Complainant reporting receiving harassing communication from their ex. Member spoke with complainant and viewed messages. No harassment charges at this time, however complainant advised to document any further communication of this nature.

11:36 am – Tomahawk – Complainant reporting a break and enter into the Tomahawk Lutheran Church. Communion wine stolen, door damaged.

1:53 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting they received a phone call advising that they had their stolen property and would sell it back to them for $100. Phone number associated to a similar call in Airdrie.

1:37 pm – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Complainant calling to report shoplifting.

3:31 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious person in a black Jeep Grand Cherokee. Driver appeared to be wearing a black ski mask. Stopped behind them, then sped off. Member patrolled area, vehicle not located.

4:02 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant advised several items were found at the library. Two sets of keys, ladies glasses and a coin purse. All were turned into the RCMP detachment.

5:44 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting they received a phone call which caused them to have concern for the welfare of a individual. Members spoke with person who stated all was fine.

5:48 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant intoxicated and called to report their phone stolen. Member attended, complainant was not cooperative.

8:05 pm – Brazeau County – Members were requested to attend scene of a single vehicle collision. EMS and Fire were on scene. Member attended all occupants taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

8:07 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant called 911 to report harassment over social media. Member contacted both parties.

8:49 pm – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge Trailer Court – Complainant reporting suspicious person in the industrial area. Appeared to be scoping out yards. Approximately 5’5” tall wearing a dark ball cap, dark hoody and baggy jeans. Member patrolled area, not located.

May 15

1:59 am – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Complainant reporting three persons behind shed making bird noises. Members patrolled area and checked sheds, no one observed.

10:40 am – Drayton Valley – 44A Ave – Residential burglar alarm, multiple hits. Cancelled by property representative

12:19 pm – Drayton Valley – Sexual assault complaint. Under investigation, public not at risk.

5:43 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Twp Rd 502 – Complainant reported an older black Chevy pickup “blew past” line of traffic at excessive speeds.

6:55 pm – Drayton Valley – 7/11 – Attempted theft of milk, suspect has done similar previously, under investigation.

9:14 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant requesting information on evicting a tenant, provided information on the Landlord/Tenant Act.

9:46 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported teenage daughter missing. Daughter located unharmed on May 16.

10:19 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Complainant reported intoxicated unwanted female in her residence. Police attended and arrested a 35-year-old female. Female was released when sober on a promise to appear in court for breaching conditions of her probation.

5:51 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Single vehicle collision in front of Eldorado School. Driver collided with pole at crosswalk, flipped vehicle on side. Driver ticketed, was distracted grabbing for a dropped cigarette.

6:54 am – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 at 50 St (Boston Pizza) – Two vehicle collision. One pickup truck ran a red light on Hwy 22, colliding with a second truck crossing the highway on a green light. Ticket issued to at fault driver.
