Calgary police officer opens fire during attempted arrest of truck thief

CALGARY – An investigation is underway after a police-involved shooting that occurred before a suspected truck thief’s erratic bid to escape from the law.

Police say the driver and officers got into a confrontation late Monday night during an attempted traffic stop, resulting in the truck colliding with a cruiser and a home in a northeast neighbourhood.

One officer at the scene fired a gun, but no one was hurt.

The driver sped away, at times steering into oncoming traffic which resulted in a minor collision.
