Three people killed in long weekend crashes

Three people were killed on crashes on Alberta roadways over the Labour Day long weekend. 

 

KILLAM- At approximately 1:40 a.m. on Saturday, RCMP responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 13 and Highway 872 intersection.

Mounties say a truck was northbound on Highway 872 when it failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of Highway 13 and ended up in the ditch.

The 35-year-old man who was driving the truck was pronounced dead at the scene.

Four other men suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Also on Saturday, a hit-and-run collision killed a 26-year-old Blood Tribe man.

He was struck by a vehicle on Highway 5 near Lethbridge.

The driver failed to remain at the scene.

On Sunday, Mayerthorpe RCMP were called to a crash on Highway 43.

A car was heading westbound on Highway 43 when a truck heading south on Highway 18 was turning and a collision occurred. 

The driver, and lone occupant in the truck, suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

A 43-year-old woman passenger in the car from Calgary was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Two men in the car suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Names have not been released.
