A popular off-site Westerner Days event raised more money for a great cause on Thursday.

The Annual BIG 105 and 106.7 The Drive Chili Cook Off, held in the London Drugs parking lot at Southpointe Common, brought in $2,246 for the Kidney Foundation of Canada.

“We love being in a community that is so connected and that gets so excited about joining in fun events like The Chili Cook Off,” said Amanda Stonehouse, Promotions Director for BIG 105 and 106.7 The Drive.

“This event could not have gone off without all the hard working staff at our office or our amazing sponsors; Pepsi, London Drugs, Old Dutch and Cobs!

We have a couple more events upcoming this summer like our Slip and Slide on July 28th which we are really looking forward to as well!”

Three of the 11 teams competing at Thursday’s Cook Off came away with coveted trophies:

– The Big Bean Winner (Judges Choice) The Red Stag barber shop

– The ‘Not So Basic’ Award (Most Unique Ingredient) Points West Living (ingredient: Grand Marnier)

– The People’s Choice Award (Voted by Attendees) Radisson Red Deer
