Airdrie RCMP have charged a 26-year-old woman from Penticton, B.C. with numerous counts, following a traffic stop July 3 that resulted in the seizure of weapons, drugs, fake credit cards and stolen property.

Mounties say the stolen items were linked to crimes in Red Deer, Calgary and Cochrane, as well as in Coquitlam, Surrey and Vancouver, B.C.

The traffic stop occurred shortly after midnight Tuesday along Yankee Valley Boulevard in Airdrie when an RCMP officer noticed a black Nissan Altima with a B.C. license plate indicating the vehicle’s registered owner was a suspended driver.

Police say the officer stopped the vehicle which was being driven by a woman and say she appeared very nervous before offering a fake driver’s license.

Through several police checks, it was confirmed the woman was on probation and conditions for charges including personation and fraud.

Due to the woman not having a valid driver’s license, the vehicle was towed and the woman arrested after drugs were found inside the vehicle.

A further search of the car turned up suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine, marijuana drug paraphernalia, numerous knives, a collapsible police baton, bear spray, break-in tools, stolen mail, and stolen cheques. In addition to fraudulent government identification, hand-written documentation outlining potential fake credit cards and bank accounts, three laptops, a portable printer, materials to manufacture face credit cards and a smart key programmer.

Stephany Heppner faces 77 charges and was remanded into custody for an Airdrie court appearance on Thursday.
