Drayton Valley RCMP Report: October 15 – October 21

October 15

9:32 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Twp Rd 494 – Complainant reported hitting a deer on Hwy 22 the previous night.

10:20 am – Brazeau County – Elk River Rd – Complainant reported a two-vehicle collision. Vehicle one signaling a left turn, vehicle two thought the other driver was indicating it was safe to pass. No injuries.

12:18 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Complainant reported being assaulted and threatened by an unhappy client. Under investigation.

1:23 pm – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reported the CRA accounts of he and his wife had been compromised and CERB benefits missing. Under investigation.

1:37 pm – Parkland County – RR 72 – Members responded to a residential alarm, possible tampering. False, caused by bad wifi.

2:23 pm – Brazeau County – River Ridge Estates – Complainant reported an abandoned bike in the ditch. Bicycle retrieved.

3:49 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reported hitting a deer while traveling southbound by Berrymoor.

4:24 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Hwy 39 – Members responded to a collision at this location. Complainant was traveling east onto Hwy 39 when a truck pulling a trailer turned across his path to head south on Hwy 22, causing the complainant to hit the back of the trailer. Under investigation.

7:33 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Complainant reported hearing a possible single gunshot. Member patrolled the area. One witness heard a loud bang from area of 7/11, source not located, no one found in distress.

7:55 pm – Parkland County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a truck pulling a vehicle on a trailer with no lights on, possibly not connected safely as sparks visible on the road. Vehicle leaving Drayton Valley area so member advised Evansburg RCMP.

8:29 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – Complainant reported seeing a male enter a neighbouring residence that should be empty. Members attended and determined the male was a former tenant working on the basement with owner’s permission.

9:55 pm –Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Two reports received of possible gunshots. Members were able to locate the source and confirm it had been fireworks.

10:41 pm – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge – Complainant reported a possible gunshot heard. Member attended, loud bang heard by several neighbours. Unknown if a firework or gunshot. Extensive patrols were made but source not located.

October 16

2:15 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported a suspicious vehicle parked for 15-20 minutes with a light on inside. Member patrolled the area but car not located.

6:38 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Ave – Complainant reported a male walked by her house and set off motion lights, is now lurking around a neighbour’s house. Member attended, male not located.

10:12 am – Drayton Valley – 48 Street – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver issued a violation ticket for driving while unauthorized.

10:31 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a shoplifter. Member attended, suspect had stolen a bottle of pop and a mickey of vodka. Complainant has a possible known suspect. Under investigation.

11:31 am – Lodgepole – Complainant reporting a theft from their camper. Complainant stated that they had been working in their shop when someone entered their trailer and stole their bank card and $120 cash. Bank card has been used at several places in Drayton Valley. Matter is still under investigation.

12:25 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reported a trailer had come unhitched from vehicle on the bridge, logs on road. Members determined a truck had been pulling a trailer when the hitch broke. Driver already had a tow company on scene dealing with the issue.

1:30 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Ave – Complainant reported an attempted B&E to upper suite in a residence. No entry gained, occurred end of September.

2:06 pm – Brazeau County – Member served an Emergency Protection Order that complainant had obtained.

2:34 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Complainant reported a business yard had been entered and someone attempted unsuccessfully to steal a 1996 Chevy pickup. Truck damaged by attempt.

5:41 pm – Brazeau County – North Saskatchewan Bridge – Members responded to a single-vehicle collision, vehicle spun out, and hit a barrier. No injuries.

7:56 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting they were driving when a moose ran out of the ditch and collided with the passenger side of their vehicle.

8:23 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 Ave – Complainant reported her intoxicated husband ran off from their residence and may be suicidal. Members located him at a friend’s residence, male wasn’t a risk to himself and was with the friend.

8:41 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St S/Hwy 22 – Complainant reported hitting a deer. Member attended, deer had to be euthanized and removed from the road. Truck damaged but driveable.

October 17

1:48 am – Drayton Valley – 43 Ave – Complainant reported husband had returned home after having run off earlier; complainant believed he had consumed cocaine and may damage property. Members attended. Suspect had broken a secondary door lock but was cooperative and hadn’t committed any crime. The suspect agreed to go back to his friend’s residence for the night.

2:03 am – Drayton Valley – Landfill area – Complainant reported a suspicious dark coloured truck stopped by the dump. Members attended when able but the truck had left.

2:39 am – Drayton Valley – 41 Avenue – Complainant requesting a well-being check on family member. Member attended residence.

8:14 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/River Hill – Complainant reported a truck pulling a flat deck trailer with two vehicles on it stopped, partially blocking a lane. Members attended and determined the truck had broken down. The driver was arrested on an outstanding warrant from Breton, the truck and trailer were towed and the driver was issued several violation tickets as the load was insecure, he had no licence, and was unable to prove insurance on the truck.

9:07 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Member attended a residence to keep the peace during removal of property due to a separation.

10:26 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant requested police assistance in retrieving his cat from his ex’s apartment. Members attended and the cat was returned. Turns out it wasn’t a case of a cat burglar or any other such catastrophe, the ex had simply been catnapping and didn’t hear complainant knocking during first attempt.

10:33 am – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – Members attended a residence for a teenager throwing things and threatening to run away or commit suicide. The teenager was reportedly mad because mom was rude to her, didn’t cook, and had taken away wi-fi. Members determined there was no imminent suicide plan and remained until everything had calmed down.

11:12 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver arrested on outstanding warrant.

12:00 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Ave/52 St – Complainant reported homeless male and female in the area trying doors on buildings. Member attended but the pair wasn’t located. Businesses all found to be secure.

12:35 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a white older model Ford F-150 is driving erratically, swerving from lane to lane. Vehicle has 3 occupants. Member spoke with the registered owner of the vehicle and warned them regarding their manner of driving.

4:13 pm – Drayton Valley – Coach Motel – A possible suicidal male. Friend had posted some concerning messages on Snapchat. Members located the teen who was with both his sister and the complainant and he was not suicidal.

5:57 pm – Drayton Valley – 58 Ave – Complainant reported that he had been receiving complaints about the driving of one of his commercial drivers, and that now the truck had been parked at a location on 58 Ave for several hours. Members determined that the truck had in fact been towed to and impounded at the location after Evansburg RCMP arrested the driver for impaired driving.

October 18

1:22 am – Drayton Valley – Brougham Drive – Complainant reported a male entered the building and tried to steal a TV. Members followed suspect’s tracks to the area of the Omniplex before losing the trail. A suitcase with tools and likely some stolen property was recovered.

12:01 pm – Yellowhead County – Members called to an ATV accident. 42-year-old male injured. Members attended with detachment quads which were utilized to move male to ambulance for transport.

12:07 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Members called to a custody dispute. No custody order in place. Verbal agreement between the two parties. Complainant states their ex is refusing to allow complainant to take the children as per their agreement.

1:57 pm – Yellowhead County – Complainant reporting theft of cable and a break and enter at a lease site.

3:13 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complainant reporting theft of Amazon package off front step. Box located, items inside were not. Description of suspects, youth 1 wearing black hoodie and 1 with red shoes.

9:25 pm – Drayton Valley – Pleasantview Trailer Park – Complainant reporting a dispute. Yelling coming from neighbours. Members attended and spoke with occupants of residence. They had taken an ice cream away from son as he was being rude. Son sent to bed. Members checked on son who was sleeping.

October 19

8:57 am – Yellowhead County – Complainant called to report theft of ground cable and Stihl Whipper snipper overnight. Lock had been cut off a sea can.

12:50 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting threats received while walking into the store. Member spoke with complainant.

3:51 pm – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Complainant reporting receiving threats from their ex-boyfriend. Members attended, complainant extremely intoxicated.

7:12 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting roads are icy and is concerned someone will get hurt. Member contacted road maintenance to sand road.

8:42 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of a fire started by known male. Fire Department put fire out. Male issued a violation ticket.

10:18 pm – Drayton Valley – West Winds Hotel – Complainant reporting a break and enter by 3 people trying to get into their unit. Members attended, no break and enter, complainant had not slept for two days.

October 20

2:07 am – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge Trailer court – Member on patrol was stopped by a person who wanted to report their daughter was being bullied at school.

4:35 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Licence plate not a match to the vehicle and had been reported stolen off a Ford Ranger. Vehicle not insured or registered. Vehicle towed, driver arrested for Possession of Stolen Property.

9:00 am – Brazeau County – RR 75 – Complainant reporting ongoing neighbour dispute. Neighbour is videotaping complainant from their residence.

10:37 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a suspicious male and female with a Rottweiler dog moving things out of a silver car and into a black truck. Member attended and spoke with male. Female identified and arrested on outstanding warrants.

10:47 am – Drayton Valley – 44 Avenue – Complainant reporting theft of garage door openers and other miscellaneous items from vehicle overnight.

11:54 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting a suspicious person. Male came in and asked for a job. Male is now walking towards Poplar Ridge carrying a blue recycle bag. Member attended and located known male. Male advised he was looking for a job.

12:43 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Member on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Driver of vehicle issued a violation ticket for distracted driving as they were talking on their cell phone while driving.

1:06 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 Street – Complainant reporting a sea can broken into overnight. Lock was cut off and air compressor, air hose, and small tools were stolen.

1:12 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reporting a dispute. Members attended and separated the parties. One arrested for breaching conditions.

1:41 pm – Drayton Valley – Provincial Building – Complainant reporting suspicious activity. Believes there is someone in the ceiling. Members attended, no one located in the ceiling, however, known male was located outside and spoken to.

2:26 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complainant reporting a vehicle swerving on the highway. Vehicle is a blue Volkswagen SUV.

2:24 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Complainant reporting someone in the shed on their property. Members attended, no one located.

4:03 pm – Drayton Valley – Member on patrol observed known male picking bottles from garbage can on police property. Male began biking away, member ordered male to stop several times. Male was wanted on warrants. Male very hostile, arrested, and proceeded to resist arrest, kicked door on police car, several issues with same male in cells resulted in an additional charge of assault on police officer as well as additional mischief charges.

4:53 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 Avenue – Complainant reporting theft of a tire off a vehicle sometime over the past two days.

6:18 pm – Brazeau County – Member was on patrol and attended a residence on an unrelated matter. Upon arrival, member noted that male was on the floor in the kitchen and appeared to be having a medical episode. EMS called and male transported to hospital.

7:50 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a break and enter to farm property within last two days. Ongoing issue. Locks cut and gate pulled down.

11:47 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting a male in a dumpster at the back of a building. Red later model pickup truck parked by the dumpster. Member attended, no one in dumpster. Patrols made, vehicle not located.

October 21

12:15 am – Tomahawk – Report of a fire. Entire residence consumed. Matter is still under investigation.

4:08 am – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reporting a single gunshot. Members attended, stolen vehicle located which had been involved in an accident. Driver located nearby and arrested on outstanding warrants. New charges pending. Driver is a known male, held for a bail hearing.

9:00 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting they heard someone rustling around in the back of their property about 4 am. They left behind a backpack. Member attended and seized the backpack.

9:21 am – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer court – Complainant reporting they are receiving harassing phone calls from a company with no caller ID.

11:51 am – Brazeau County – Abandoned vehicle reported. Members attended, vehicle and licence plate not a match. Truck stolen from Rocky Mountain House on the 17th of October.

11:59 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Member on patrol came across a minor accident that had just occurred. One vehicle had slid into a parked vehicle when turning. Roads were very icy.

1:31 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting a motor vehicle collision. One vehicle was driveable the other not. One vehicle in the ditch. Member attended.

2:04 pm – Brazeau County – A residential panic alarm received. Member attended, resident was cleaning alarm when they set it off. Alarm False.

2:25 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting their phone stolen. Phone had been left by the VLT’s at OCT.

4:02 pm – Drayton Valley – 48 Avenue – Complainant reporting a fraud. Cheque had been made out to one person and had been cashed at two different banks. Matter is still under investigation.
