Spring run-off leads to downtown road closure
Localized flooding from Piper Creek’s spring run-off in downtown Red Deer has led to a portion of 43 Street to be closed off to traffic for now.
Officials with the City of Red Deer say 43 Street has been closed between 48 Avenue and 49 Avenue in behind the Baymont Inn and Suites.
Barricades are up and detours in place so motorists and trail users are reminded to obey all signs posted in the area and use caution as crews continue to monitor the nearby creek levels.
It’s expected they will return to normal in a few days.
