Applications now open for Trey Purdie Memorial Scholarship

RED DEER- Before graduates find themselves under the weight of final exams or the flurry of post-graduation preparations, the Red Deer & District Community Foundation would like to remind students to check with school counselors for local financial award opportunities.

Presently, applications for the Trey Purdie Memorial Scholarship are available online at  www.rddcf.ca

The scholarship, was developed last year in memory of local rodeo enthusiast Trey Purdie.

There will be two separate awards of $1,000 to students graduating in 2019.

The eligibility requirements for these awards are as follows:

Applicants must reside on a working farm or ranch, be a Red Deer County resident or be graduating from high school’s within Chinook’s Edge School Division or applicants must be in good standing with the Alberta High School Rodeo Association and graduating from high school.

Applicants will be weighted on an essay, reference letters, community involvement and academics.

Graduates residing in Red Deer County and/or attendees of Chinook’s Edge School Division have until March 15, 2019 to submit an application.

Graduates involved with the Alberta High School Rodeo Association have until April 1, 2019. (Applications for the AHSRA Award can be found at www.albertahsrodeo.com
