The Sunrise Toastmasters Club of Red Deer kicked off a new year at our meeting on July 10.

Word of the Day: succinct
Bisera Mandic gave Speech #4 from the Competent Communicator manual (How to Be Happy) and was evaluated by Mavis Edey.
Area Director, Christine Fernie gave an inspiring speech that included awards as well as the motivation necessary to achieve those awards while Joe Gormley provided the speech evaluation.
Competent Communicator awards were given to Candace Phelps and Jock Mackenzie. A Competent Leadership award was presented to Buzz Brown, who also received his Advanced Leadership Bronze designation.
The Table Topic speakers were Debbie Olugbenjo, Buzz Brown, Barry Lashmar, and Melinda Johnston.
The new executive for the 2018/19 year was installed by outgoing President, Yaser Aljarrah. The executive members are (pictured left to right) Immediate Past President – Yaser Aljarrah, President – Buzz Brown, Sergeant at Arms – Melinda Johnston, Vice President, Membership – Joe Gormley, Treasurer – Debbie Olugbenjo, Vice President, Public Relations – Bisera Mandic, Vice President, Education – Jock Mackenzie.
An outstanding year is in store. Next meetings: July 17, 24, 31. No meeting on August 7.
