Following a two month delay, the United Conservative Party has announced the nomination race for Red Deer - South is officially open.

Application packages must be requested no later than Feb. 14 at 5 p.m. The deadline to submit nominations is Thursday, Feb. 21 at 5 p.m.

It was back on Dec. 9 when the party's executive director Janice Harrington said in a letter to the UCP Red Deer - South constituency association that the nomination vote was being postponed in order to accommodate a "high profile individual."

Several names have already entered the party's nomination race in the riding, including Adele Poratto, Bruce Buruma, Jason Stephan and Norman Wiebe.

This nomination contest is one of the last to be held by the UCP prior to this spring's provincial election.
