Dec 15, 2018 | 2:00 PM

A man from Olds has died following a crash in central Alberta on Saturday morning.

It was 5:20 a.m., according to RCMP, when emergency crews were called an MVC on Hwy 27 near the RR 44 intersection east of Sundre.

There, an eastbound pickup truck collided with a westbound car.

A 22-year-old make driver from Sundre, who was driving the pickup, was taken to hospital in Calgary for non-life-threatening injuries.

The 39-year-old driver of the car, identified as Darryl Hyslop, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

“The RCMP would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of Mr. Hyslop for their loss.  It is tragic at anytime to lose a loved one especially more so during the holiday season.” Corporal Joe Mandel – Sundre RCMP.

RCMP say road conditions were favourable at the time of the collision. Roads in the area were closed, but have since re-opened.

Chinook Arch Victim Services is assisting those affected.

Sundre RCMP say they have not ruled out alcohol as a cause of the crash.

A GoFundMe page has been set up in support of the victim’s family.
