Recreation and Culture Grants program increasing in Lacombe

Organizations planning on applying for a recreation or culture grant in the City of Lacombe next year will now have a little more funding to draw from.

The City of Lacombe has announced that funding for the 2019 Recreation and Culture Grant program has been increased to $12,500.  

City officials say this is the sixth year of the grant program, with the purpose to support new local programs and services that enhance the quality of life for residents through recreation and/or culture.

“The City of Lacombe is working with organizations to address community needs by providing funding to run new recreation and culture programs and initiatives,” says Recreation and Culture Manager Sandi Stewart in a press release. “The projects that get approved in 2019 will benefit many in our community.”  

Officials say the grant is open to all non-profit community groups and businesses in Lacombe, with applications due by February 28, 2019.

The Lacombe and District Recreation Parks and Culture Board will review all applications and allocate the funds at their March meeting.
