Queens golf squad wins fist national title
You can call the Red Deer College Queens golf team national champions.
The Queens held off all opponents on Friday to become the first ACAC school to win a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association national golf title.
“To take home gold at a national championship is incredible, not only for RDC but for Alberta golf,” said Scott Bergdahl, head coach for RDC Queens. “We have put a lot of resources into developing both the men and ladies teams in the last few years. So to be rewarded like this, in such a short period of time, is really outstanding. I think it’s really going to benefit the team and the program moving forward.”
The Queens shot a four-day total of 625 to claim the gold, finishing 16 strokes ahead of the Medicine Hat College Rattlers.
