Red Deer region unemployment rate rises slightly in August
The provincial job numbers are in for August, and Red Deer’s unemployment rate has increased from 6.1 per cent in July to 6.2 per cent.
However, according to the Alberta Labour Force Statistics, it’s down slightly from the seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate reported in June for Red Deer, at 6.3 per cent.
The seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate in other economic regions in Alberta includes 7.6 per cent in Edmonton, up from 7.2 per cent in July, and a 6.7 per cent rate in Calgary, which is the same as last month.
Meanwhile, Alberta’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 6.8 per cent in August, down 0.2 percentage points from the previous month and down 1.4 percentage points from the same month last year. Alberta’s unemployment rate was the fifth highest in Canada.
