Queens raise $12,000 during Pink in the Rink game

The Red Deer College Queens hockey team raised more than $12,000 for cancer research during Saturday night’s annual Pink in the Rink game.

For the first time ever, this special game was held at the Queens new home rink at the Gary W. Harris Canada Games Centre.

The Queens would eventually hold on for a 4-2 victory over the Olds College Broncos.

“I don’t think there’s anyone on our team, or in our rink, who hasn’t been touched by cancer. It’s one of those nights when we can try to help raise funds to find a cure,” said Queens head coach Kelly Coulter. “We are proud to be a part of it and I think Olds did a good job with their night on Thursday, and our staff did a great job tonight.”
