Charity yogathon goes indoors Sunday due to cold weather

Weather has forced a change of location to the Central Alberta Yogathon, happening Sunday.

The event was originally planned for Aug. 18, but was postponed due to heavy smoke from wildfires.

Now, the yogathon is happening Sunday from 10-2 inside the Snell Auditorium, downstairs at the Red Deer Public Library’s downtown branch.

This empowering fundraiser will feature yoga taught in a variety of styles and led by certified central Alberta-based instructors, a silent auction, refreshments and prizes.

The recipient of funds raised this year will be the Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre, which educates, supports and empowers individuals, families and communities with respect to sexual violence.

“We are thrilled to be a part of this event, says CASASC Executive Director Patricia Arango. “An event like this can be a powerful reminder that healing starts with respect for ourselves. Through yoga we can learn how to take care of our bodies while we are going through the healing process.”

The fourth annual Central Alberta Yogathon is suitable for all ages and abilities.
