Mark Smith wins UCP nomination in Drayton Valley-Devon

UCP MLA Mark Smith has won his bid to represent the Drayton Valley-Devon constituency in the next provincial election following two days of voting by party memebers.

United Conservative Leader Jason Kenney issued a statement congratulating Smith.

“Mark’s strong, principled voice will be a tremendous asset,” Kenney said. “As the United Conservative Education Critic, Mark has applied his three decades of teaching experience to holding the NDP to account on its education policy, and I am pleased to know that our United Conservative team will continue to benefit from this knowledge and expertise.”

Kenney also thanked Smith’s challenger in the race, Andrew Boitchenko for his spirited campaign. 

Smith is currently serving his first term as MLA for the riding after being elected in 2015.
