Drayton Valley RCMP provide updated statistics to council

Over 1,000 criminal code reports have been filed to the Drayton Valley RCMP as the crime rate for the area continues to creep up, according to newly released statistics.

From January until July 1,107 offences have been filed. Theft under $5,000 leads the pack with 292 cases, followed by other criminal code with 179 and mischief to property at 136.

There have been 117 reported break and enters so far in 2018.

The month of July saw 11 reported break and enters, nine theft of motor vehicles, 32 reports of theft of under $5,000 and 20 mischief of property incidents. 

Total criminal code reports tallied 139, the second highest amount for a July behind 2014.
