Riggers lose Sunburst Baseball League final but off to nationals

The Red Deer Riggers are turning their focus now to the Baseball Canada Men’s National Championships in Victoria, B.C. next week following their Sunburst Baseball League Championship final series defeat in Sherwood Park last night.

The Senior Men’s AAA baseball team fell 5-1 to the Athletics on Friday and losing the series 3-1.

Team officials tweeted “They outhit and outplayed us all series.”

However, being the defending provincial champions, the Riggers have already qualified for nationals this year which begin in Victoria August 23 and run until August 26.
