Bantam AAA Braves win four, drop one as league play winds down

The Red Deer Bantam AAA Braves went 3-2 in league action this past week.

On Thursday, the Braves took down the South Jasper Park Place Jays by a score of 10-1.

The Braves hit three out of the park home runs, with Owen Harriott hitting two and Brayden Harrington hitting out one. Grayson Leuck pitched six strong innings for the win, striking out eight batters along the way.

Saturday, the Braves fell 6-3 to Sherwood Park.

Ben St. Pierre pitches 4 2/3 innings, striking out six batters, and Dakota Clubine closed the game.

Leuck went 2 for 3 at bat, and Franz also went 2 for 3 with a home run.

Also on Saturday, Red Deer picked up a 7-3 win over Ft. McMurray.

Harriott pitched 4 1/3 innings for the win, striking out seven batters, with Franz and Adam Turgeon closing the game.

Gallardo went 2 for 3 at bat with 1 RBI, Clubine went 1 for 1 with 2 RBI’s and Harriott, Borchers, Belich and Turgeon getting a hit each.

Then on Sunday, the Braves beat Ft. McMurray 16-2.

Simon pitched all five innings for the win, striking out six batters. Harrington, Hachkowski, St. Pierre and Franz each had two hits. Harrington had two doubles at bat with 5 RBI’s. 

Later Sunday, Red Deer edged Sherwood Park 5-4.

Gallardo pitched the complete game and got the win on the mound. Harriott went 2 for 3 at bat with three RBI’s. 

Provincials will be played August 3-5 in Okotoks.
