Wolf Creek students graduate from ‘School within a College’ program
Officials with Wolf Creek Public Schools are lauding the success of six students who have graduated from the Central Alberta School within a College (SWAC) program this year.
Tristyn Foley, Landon Rutten and Raymond Weever from École Secondaire Lacombe Composite High School, along with Brad Doorneward and Tristan Pattison from Ponoka Secondary Campus and Quintin Jensen from Bentley School have completed the dual credit program which focuses on welding and automotive service technician programs within a college setting.
The students are said to have spent the past 18 weeks with an integrated learning experience at Red Deer College, in addition to writing the provincial Alberta Industry Training (AIT) exams and competing at SkillsCanada competitions this year.
Wolf Creek officials say Brad Doorneward in fact placed high enough in the regional skills competition to qualify for the provincial competition by representing both Red Deer College and Wolf Creek.
