Jun 4, 2018 | 2:32 PM

A Red Deer man arrested following a carfentanil bust in our city last year has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.

Kim Proctor, 39, was one of four people arrested after Red Deer RCMP and ALERT raided a drug trafficking operation on March 8, 2017 following a three-month investigation.

Police seized firearms, meth, fentanyl powder, cocaine, ketamine, and a substance later confirmed to be carfentanil.

Proctor has pleaded not guilty charges that include possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon obtained by crime and possession of property obtained by crime.

His case returns to Red Deer court for arraignment on July 9.

Two others arrested in the March 2017 bust, Steven Herman and Trina Boudreau-Pritchard, face trial in Red Deer from Oct. 28-31, 2019.

One of two men charged in a crime spree west of Red Deer earlier this year will spend 30 months behind bars.

Two suspects robbed the GTI Service Station locations in Sylvan Lake and Eckville on the night of April 3.

In both instances, one of the men was carrying a machete. They were later arrested without incident in Rocky Mountain House.

Dalton Collicutt, 21, pleaded guilty last month to two robbery counts and was sentenced to 30 months in prison followed by a 19-year firearms prohibition.

Callen Peters, 20, also faces two counts and is due back in Red Deer court on June 21.

A local man who was one of five people arrested last month following a lengthy drug trafficking investigation will face trial later this year.

The investigation by Red Deer RCMP wrapped on May 7 with the high-risk arrest of a wanted man at a home in West Park.

Local Mounties say they opened their file in January, and on April 16 executed a trio of search warrants at residences on Neville Close, Page Avenue and on the 3800 block of 45 Street in Eastview.

During those searches, which were done alongside the Calgary Emergency Response Team, RCMP seized 17 firearms and large amounts of cocaine and meth, along with fentanyl, GHB, items used for drug trafficking, electronics, a single counterfeit Canadian $100 bill, and approximately $600 cash.

A male suspect later fled from police after being spotted in Penhold before being arrested on May 7.

James Leslie Holley, 43, faces 21 charges for drug possession and trafficking, firearms, dangerous driving and flight from police. His trial in Red Deer provincial court is scheduled for Dec. 3.

Four others charged as part of the investigation have court appearances booked for this month – Danielle Ami Cassan, Jennifer Lynn Steele, Angel Robin Chipaway and Kandice May Baldwin.
