Indoor trampoline park closes citing higher insurance costs, wages

May 22, 2018 | 7:04 AM

Red Deer’s indoor trampoline park has closed its doors.

In a Facebook post, the owners of Jump 360 say insurance rates “quadruple what we were paying” and higher employee wages have made it too costly for them to continue operating.

“Higher wages and public perception, fewer customers visiting the park, Increased taxes, all have contributed to the decline and ultimate demise of Jump 360 Red Deer,” reads the May 18 Facebook post.

The owners of the Red Deer location say party deposits are being refunded and that they are working to contact the respective parties. Those who have yet to be contacted can email info.reddeer@jump360.ca.

While they want to take care of every reimbursement and be able to meet every request, they owners say they will not be able to as they do not have sufficient resources.

“We know we cannot share every detail and answer every question, but we can say that we have exhausted every option,” the owners say on Facebook. “We recognize that we will still disappoint some individuals no matter how sincere our effort.”

Jump 360 had been open since May 2016 at the former Princess Auto location at 6833 66 Street. There are two other locations in Canada in Edmonton and Kamloops. Each location is independently owned and operated. The Edmonton location has agreed to honour gift cards and punch cards purchased at the Red Deer location through June 18.

“Jump 360 Red Deer was a dream to bring fun and fitness to Red Deer, something to bring families together and to provide a great destination for the people of Red Deer,” Friday’s Facebook post adds. “We worked hard to develop a safety program that far exceeded even the US standards. We are grieved to be closing our doors and sad for this outcome. Thank you to all of you who continued to support us. We truly had fun and loved seeing the smiles on your faces!”
