Council approves upgrades to two crosswalks

May 16, 2018 | 9:56 AM

Two crosswalks in Drayton Valley have been approved for a facelift following a review of traffic/pedestrian safety and concerns from residents.

Drayton Valley Town Council on Wednesday approved upgrades to the crosswalk at 43 Street west of St. Anthony School along with the crosswalk at Beckett Road between 50 Avenue and 49 Avenue.

The crosswalk near St. Anthony’s will cost just over $12,100 to undertake, while the Beckett Road job will cost over $11,600 for a total of $23,700.

Both crossings would see a solar power lighted system installed, improving visibility to those using the crosswalk and for vehicles approaching the pedestrian route.
