Pedestrian seriously injured after being hit by vehicle in Drayton Valley

A pedestrian was seriously injured after being struck by a vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

Drayton Valley RCMP say it happened at 1 p.m. at the intersection of 50 Street and 55 Avenue.

The 23-year-old female pedestrian was crossing 50 Street when she was struck by a vehicle turning left onto 50 Street. 

Traffic was diverted for a short period of time while EMS, Fire and RCMP members attended the scene. 

The pedestrian was taken to Drayton Valley Hospital in critical condition and was later transported by STARS to the University of Alberta hospital in Edmonton.
